ZOOM! Whitening
What is Philips ZOOM! Whitening?
To achieve the brilliant white smile of your dreams, Zoom Teeth Whitening offers you a full range of options based on your needs and your lifestyle. Professional teeth whitening with Philips Zoom is safe, pain-free, sustainable and used by over 10 million people.
The difference between professional and over-the-counter whitening treatments:
Non-professional whitening treatments are over-the-counter products such as strips and toothpaste. These products vary in their price, difficulty to use and effectiveness.
Philips Zoom professional whitening is a fast, effective and safe way to whiten your teeth. Your dental professional will either apply the treatment for you, or fit you with customized trays so you can do the treatment at home.
Results from professional treatments can be immediate (up to 8 shades whiter in 45 minutes), and because a dental professional is involved, the process is safe, reliable and hassle free.
What can cause tooth discoloration?
There are many causes. The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea or tobacco. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.
Who may benefit from tooth whitening?
Just about anyone can benefit from tooth whitening. However, treatment may not be as effective or some as it is for others. Upon an oral exam, we can determine if you are a candidate for this procedure, including a shade assessment.
Is tooth whitening safe?
Yes, research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In fact, many dentists consider whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available. As with any tooth whitening product, Philips ZOOM! Whitening is not recommended for children under 13 years of age and pregnant or lactating women.
Do the results last a long time?
By following some simple post whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. We recommend flossing, brushing twice daily with Philips ZOOM! Whitening Toothpaste, and touch-ups with Philips ZOOM! Whitening take-home gel. These are professional formula products designed specifically to keep your teeth their brightest. They are available through our office.
Is there any difference between over-the-counter tooth whiteners and Philips ZOOM! Whitening?
Yes! Consulting Drs. Kulesa, Buller, Pheifer or Park is always the first step to whitening your teeth safely. Over-the-counter tooth whitening strips, brush-on gels and toothpastes take weeks or months to whiten your teeth just a few shades.
Philips ZOOM! Whitening In-Office Whitening
How does the Philips ZOOM! Whitening in-office system work?
Philips ZOOM! Whitening features a unique, chemically activated formula that allows us to whiten your teeth without the bothersome of heat or ultraviolet rays of a light. Philips ZOOM! Whitening also contains potassium nitrate and fluoride, which help to improve oral health by strengthening enamel, decreasing sensitivity, and offering increased cavity prevention.
Is the Philips ZOOM! Whitening In-office procedure painful?
No. During the procedure, patients can actually watch television or listen to music. Many fall asleep.
Are there any side effects?
Some people experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during treatment. These symptoms disappear within 1-3 days after interruption or completion of the treatment.
How long is the procedure?
The Entire procedure takes just over one hour. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by one hour of bleaching. A five-minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure (we recommend a cleaning prior to the actual BOOST Whitening session).
Philips ZOOM! Whitening Take-Home Whitening
How long does the Philips ZOOM! Whitening Take-Home Whitening take?
The Philips ZOOM! Whitening take-home whitening gel comes in a variety of strengths. Most patients will be happy with their results in 7-10 days, heavily stained teeth may take longer. Depending on the formulation that you choose, you can wear your trays overnight, or as little as 30 minutes a day.
How is the Philips ZOOM! Whitening Take-Home System different from the Philips ZOOM! Whitening In-Office System?
The main difference between the two systems is that you use the Philips ZOOM! Whitening Take-Home System in the convenience of your own home over a few nights. The Philips ZOOM! Whitening In-Office System is performed entirely in the office.
