What is a Frenectomy?

.    lip and tongue tie, frenectomy

A frenectomy is the laser removal of a frenum, the small fold of tissue that prevents the lip and tongue from moving and functioning properly. A frenectomy improves:

  • tongue range of motion to help speech articulation
  • dental health and occlusion
  • sleep and breathing

While all of side effects and potential long-term complications as a result of tongue and lip tie in infants and children may feel scary and overwhelming, Northstar Family Dental is proud to offer a simple, effective and painless solution.

Dr. Park’s personal story:

“When I struggled to breastfeed my first baby, I had no idea that an undiagnosed tongue tie was the cause of my low milk supply. I had to stop nursing earlier than I wanted, which was heartbreaking. This was the start of my journey into the world of tongue and lip ties. As I learned more, I was amazed to discover how much they affect feeding, breathing, and even speaking. With my second baby, I recognized the signs right away and released his tie at 4 weeks. What a game-changer! Now, I’m passionate about helping families improve function and wellbeing.”
